No deal is still UK law, as is leaving on the 29th of March.

@Loostyc which treaty? If we are talking about Mrs May's rotten deal. The EU might find that a future UK government will not honour it, on the grounds it is a treasonous deal that was rejected by parliament twice.

@Loostyc but we are leaving u Der the terms of article 50, it is the EU that is attempting to redefine this to suit its own ends.

@Loostyc it is trying to amend the exit deal, that is not article 50. The UK parliament want to remove the backstop. Article 50 allows for an extension to the article 50 application, but it must be agreed by the remaining 27 members. From the leave point of view, it would be better if the 27 refuse any delay. It is believed that Mrs May wants a short delay until June to allow time to implement her deal if she can get it approved before the 29th of March. The EU want a two year extension for either a UK general election or a second referendum, the former being preferred as it plays less well into the hands of the leave side. However, if there is a long delay, the UK is expected to take part in the EU elections. The risk for the EU is that he UK will elect a majority of Eurosceptic MEPs, and there is no telling what damage they could inflect on the EU in a two year period. Given how the UK has been treated by the EU, it is likely that the UK citizens would do this as they have nothing to lose.

@Loostyc the GFA does not stop a hard brexit, as you will find if the UK leaves without a deal.
