The EU has over played its hand, the UK is leaving without a deal. It is possible that the EU believed that they can force a second referendum by rejecting Chequers deal. This is not going to happen as there is not sufficient time. There is now a good chance that May will be forced to resign, replaced by a true eurosceptic.

The EU are investing all their efforts in obtaining a second referendum. They are going to be disappointed, the most likely outcome now is a hard brexit with no deal.

@tracycartwright978 it has been 367 years since the last English civil war, I can't see the English repeating it, but life is going to get very difficult for all future governments until we are out. We have an annual total trade deficit with the EU of approximately £80 billion. This is not sustainable. A second referendum opens the door for this to become a regular event. Soon the EU will need to change the treaties governing membership to introduce federalisation. That will trigger another referendum.
