Putin has managed to turn round NATO's fortune. Before the Russian attack on Ukraine, NATO looked like it might be disbanded. Macron was asking what was the point of NATO. Now NATO is expanding, it is stronger and more united than ever, with member states spending huge amounts on re-arming and reequiping their respective militaries. All this thanks to Putin's goal to push back NATO.
