Comments by "Nigel Johnson" (@nigeljohnson9820) on "Irish PM: No-deal Brexit increasingly likely, border poll would be 'divisive'" video.
So the RoI does not want a border pole. In other words it does not want to take on the economic and political basket case that NI represents. They want the UK to continue to fund NI, while taking advantage of the trade opportunities that it represents. The EU and the RoI may discover new impetus to find other ways to keep the border open once the UK leaves the EU. The will be dealing with a gaping hole in the EU market border. The UK should mirror any tariffs that the EU impose on goods coming from the UK. It is in the interests of the long term good of the UK economy to discourage inports in favour of locally manufactured products. The EU has sold out Irish farmers in a number of its recent trade deals, with potentially cheaper produce coming from Canada and Argentina, so exports to the UK market are going to become even more important. Long term farming in the EU is going to become very difficult as a result of global warming, so those in the more northern latitudes will have an advantage. I expect the EU will suffer crop failures this year and even more in the years to come.

@arthurgoodness7865 I think you just confirmed my comment. The RoI not the EU do not want to take responsibility for the economic and political basket case that is NI. In other words reunification is not something The RoI or the EU want, IRA please note.
