You bet we did, three times.

The UK would not have introduced the internal market bill if it were not for the threat of an EU blockade of import from the UK mainland to NI. If Barnier is now saying that no such threat was made, then it is because he now understands what the reaction of the UK will be. Unfortunately for him, the Jeanne is now out of the bottle. The UK is now aware of this plot. It was an attempt to force the UK to adopt EU rules and directives on food products. The UK should consider enhancing its own standards, with a view to blocking EU imports to the UK. There are very good reason for doing this, as it will protect UK manufactures and producers. This would tilt the level playing field against the EU. The UK government should also be looking for other areas where UK standards can be used to protect our home market producers.

@TorianTammas what did you expect when at war with a hostile power like the EU. Though I suspect that civic 19 is more a threat to the UK economy than the EU. We voted to escape the grip of the EU parasite, so we are fighting two infections.

@CristianGeorgescu-translations I take it you win the contest for the most stupid EU supporter. With such strong competition and you still win by a mile. I could have used another analogy, such as Barnier revealing his cards, but that seemed too prosaic to hold the attention of EU supporters, who seem attracted to mythical references, like what's good for one member state is good for all, or it cares about Ireland and the GFA.

Zoey Lowlands the UK is always free to adopt its own standards.

@g0balot to be fair to Boris, the WA makes reference to NI being in the UK customs union. It also talks about both parties dealing with the other in good faith. The EU started this particular crisis, by threating to ban UK imports into NI.

@brybish there are good reasons for excluding EU food produce from the UK market.

@g0balot well it looks like the EU are not going to get a chance to inspect anything.
