@santiagogomez171 France will never go for that. The EU is basing its claim on its nuclear power status, but this relies on the French nuclear deterrent. What I suspect will happen, if the UK is forced to rejoin the EU, the EU will call if the UK seat.
The real problem is that the EU, France and UK cannot have a seat at the same time, it would give the EU three votes.
If the EU joins, it is difficult to see how France can keep theirs, as this represents two votes. While possession of atomic weapons is not a official criteria for membership, it helps.
Ironically, leaving the EU may save the UK seat. It is difficult to see how an EU member state can have a seat at the same time as the EU itself. Again it's about the member state effectively having two votes.
From the French point of view, an extra seat in the EU parliament is almost worthless, as they know it is no more than talking shop.
If the EU becomes a federal super state, it will not only need a military force, it will need a nuclear deterrent. Its all beginning to look very expensive. I would what the French will say when a nuclear armed EU tells France to disarm?
