Regrettably they will have about as much success as the yellow vests in France. The only way their protests can bring down the government is if it makes the country ungovernable and unworkable. The risk is the damage it will do to the country. Countries are like businesses, the management will run away when the profits dry up.

@Dzimas I never thought they would. The point of the post was to point out that simple protest will not bring down the regime. Only measures that make the country ungovernable will belting about change. The key is breaking the support of the police and military, who need to recognise that the regime is not legitimate. Reaching this conclusion is dependent on cutting funds to support the police and military. Putin is currently providing funds. It is likely that if this fails, he will send in police keeping forces, most likely during the winter, as this is the time when protests are most likely to stop. Even Putin will find it difficult to manage a people who ignore the state. The media has suggested the only reason Putin might intervene in keeping a dictator in power, is because of the precedence that will be set if the Belarus regime falls. Lucashenko and Putin have too much in common for an example to be made of Lukashenko.
