Comments by "Nigel Johnson" (@nigeljohnson9820) on "AstraZeneca row could spark an EU-UK vaccine trade war, warns MEP" video.
EU was late to the shops, and now using its weight to push to the head of the queue. The manufacture has a production problem, but like a petulant child the EU throws a tantrum because it cannot have what it wants NOW!. The EU's inability to understand the grown up issue of production problems in a high tech industry says a lot about the mentality of its leadership.

@Teutathis for once the eu was behind the curve, and is attempting to use its weight to correct for its error. in any case you cannot have it both ways. The UK has had 100K of covid deaths, so it has reasons to wish to vaccinate its population as quickly as possible. The UK is a third country outside the EU, as you like so often remind US, so EU rules do not apply to the UK. The EU should sort out its relationship with the manufacture, rather than dragging the UK into the affair. The UK government as a duty of care to its own population first, the EU is just a third "country" outside the UK. Do you really think if the positions were reversed, the EU would behave any differently. The mantra of the EU is; "what's yours is mine, what's mine is mine".

@Teutathis there have been no reports of export restrictions from the UK, on the contrary, the threat of export restrictions came from the EU. The EU has failed to recognise production difficulties. A factory fire seems a good excuse for a fall in production quotas.

@Teutathis explain why you expect the UK people to suffer because of a factory fire in Belgium? There is no reason for the UK to pick up the tab for EU mistakes.

@Teutathis some one here suggested the production problems were due to a fire, I should have checked that, but there is still a production problem in the EU, specifically Belgium. It was the EU that suggested banning exports. Perhaps the EU should also complain about other countries that are not send vaccine to the EU. What I find amazing is that the EU fails to understand that production problems happen. Maybe the EU should build a new manufacturing facility

@CB-lx1ox its fine that you do not want any vaccine from the U.K, though it is questionable if a German sourced vaccine would be better, certainly the Belgium plant has problems.
