In American politics terms Sanders is equivalent to Boris Johnson. There is no such thing as left wing in the US, just less right wing. The US would do well to replace the current egotistical megalomaniac idiot, with someone with integrity and intelligence. The US economy is going to need a new FDR when its economy finally moves from boom to bust. They are living on borrowed time and money.

@Toby Lerone this does explain why the EU ideologists, lean towards Russia more than the US. Unfortunately, like their predecessors, they do not understand that politics is not represented on a linear scale, but a circular one, with the moderate middle on one side and the left and right extremists meeting on the diametrically opposite side. In practice there is little difference between the policies of the extreme left and the extreme right. Both are really fascist totalitarian governments, organised as a plutocracy. In Russia it is Putin and his oligarch cronies who benefit, in the US it is Trump and his republican billionaire cronies that benefit. The EU is ideologically left wing, but really only a quarter way round the circle. Similarly, even the most rabid conservatives only manage quarter way in the opposite direction.
