Comments by "Nigel Johnson" (@nigeljohnson9820) on "Turkey using Greek soldiers as "bargaining chips"" video.
The news report fails to say why the Greek soldiers were detained. If they are not guilty of any crime, then turkey is acting unreasonable as usual.

Ramiz Karaeski that sounds rather convenient. So Turkey is being unreasonable and this is blackmail. Turkey is like a dangerous dog, it snaps at everyone and still expects to be fed.

Charles Kerry I think the us missiles were removed in an agreement with the Russians. It won't be long before turkey is shooting down US jets. Turkey has changed sides, because the US has sent supporting the Kurds who have been fighting Isis. This region no one can be trusted and everyone must protect they backs.

Charles Kerry its the fault of the Turkish government. Turkey behaviour is like that of the honey badger, an animal that makes up for its small size by being incredibly agressive and bad tempered.

Charles Kerry they was a program about Turkey on BBC television last night. It explained how Turkey had used tanks to destroy Kurd majority towns. This makes Erdogan and Assad comrades. They are both happy to use high power military weapon on their own civilians. The program showed that the administration is corrupt and willing to destroy its rich environment for the benefit of mining companies. Turkey appears to see itself as the new leader of the middle East, usurping Saudi Arabia. In order to do this Erdogan is moving away from Ataturk's secular principles. How democratic can Turkey claim to be if all opposition is suppressed. No wonder turkey is befriending Russia, it is beginning to resemble a Soviet police state. It's neighbours have every reason to be concerned for the future as Turkey is empire building and not necessarily peacefully.

Cihat Keles it seem to me that the attempted coup d'etat was the army attempting to defend the secular principles laid down by Ataturk. An attempt to limit the power of a new dictator in the making. It is depressing that a new religious zeal is gripping Turkey. It is a kind of madness that keeps the region a ferment of military destruction. Turkey boasts of offering a version of moderate Islam, but there seems to be a drift towards the extreme. I wonder if this is necessary in order for Turkey to challenge Saudi Arabia for leadership of the middle East. All indications is that Turkey is empire building.

Cihat Keles standing against America, not really, he has not challenged the US directly, but would like his supporters to think he has. It is all about cultivating a strong man status. An attempt to become the leader of the middle East. It is like a dog barking at a passing aircraft. The aircraft goes away and the dog claims responsible. Turkey is playing a dangerous game, there are other players, such as iran and Saudi Arabia, who claim the title of leads of the middle east so conflict is inevitably.

Charles Kerry it is showing the same attention seeking behaviour we associate with North Korea. At least Turkey is not overtly threating its neighbours with nuclear missiles, so Turkey will be isolated and ignored.

Cihat Keles the world seem full of states and federations made of people seeking there independence from the dictorial governments of those states. Syria has its war, Turkey has the Kurds, Spain has its separatists, the EU has the UK, the UK has the SNP and the republicans in Northern Ireland. In the order written, each has a degree of willingness to use military force to keep the unwilling from being independent. Why? There is a link to the governments who are busy empire building, conflict is inevitable with the possibility of a world war. Before the latter happens, I expect a lot of the little fish to be eaten by the big.

Cihat Keles I am happy to believe you, but how do you explain the use of tanks and heavy artillery to destroy a Kurdish town inside turkey. This was a shock, as I thought this barbaric behaviour was limited to the Assad regime.

Alper ÜZÜM Not exactly sure how you expect those who do not live in Turkey to obtain information about it, other than from a national broadcaster or other media outlets. Even travelling to Turkey is unlikely to reveal the truth. I am sure I could get similar comments about Syria from Syrians, but it is indisputable that large areas of Syria have been destroyed by government military action. We live in a world of fake news, generated in volume to obfuscate the truth, and in the affairs of humans (governments) truth is a rather subjective quantity. As a guiding principle it is worth considering motives, particular the selfish ones, and look at what little published data there is. A telling section of the BBC documentary was the section about how badly Turkey treats it's environment and wildlife. This says a lot about its character. It is therefore not difficult to believe the worst about the Turkish government. If those who have posted from Greece are to be believed Turkey is an expansionist empire builder, who's neighbours have every right to be worried about.
