Did they really think that burning down the old camp would get them a free ticket into Europe? Not a chance.

@xchampionx9 that is not what the report states. Given the number of different fire starting sites, it clearly was not an accident. News reports say the Greek police have arrested five migrants for setting the fires and are seeking a sixth migrant in connection with setting the fires.

@necromancer6608 rewarding illegal economic migrants is not a good idea, it is storing up trouble for the future. In an EU with high unemployment, adding low/no skilled migrants will just add to the problem.

@xchampionx9 no you won't, you are dependent on German and French support. If these people are not economic migrants, but asylum seekers, Greece is the first safe country they have reached. Greece is obligated to process their asylum claims or send them back as economic migrants.

@xchampionx9 the French and Germans dominate the EU and control EU migration policy. The Germans,in particular, are very good at exerting pressure on other member states. Greece is still not free of its financial problems following its crisis, this makes it vulnerable.
