  1.  @davidoyega  if you really believe that the EU can remain stable with its doors wide open to all you are deluded. Even life boats have a limit on the number of people who are allowed to use them at any one time. Without controls they sink and everyone drowns. This is not xenophobia, but pragmatism. Among the migrants that come to the EU are those from broken countries, some of these had a hand in breaking them. Some arrive with expectation of entitlement and the intention to change the host culture to match their own. Given that their culture may have been the downfall of their own country of origin, one much question the benefit of allowing it to be repeated in Europe. How are you going to maintain your liberal values when those who migrate here do not respect them? For example, democracy is inherently unstable, since a democratic decision can remove it, without providing anyway back, turning a democracy into a theocracy. Should we be tolerate of intolerance, when not to do so would be intolerant? Tourists often seek peace and solitude, searching for such on mass, the irony is that when they find such places they destroy them by their very presents. I think the action of Spain is hypocritical as it appears to " want its cake and eat it" to coin a phrase.

  3.  @davidoyega  if the UK is so unhappy, why is it that it is Spain who must use military police to stop the region's from leaving. I don't know about Harry Potter, the Spanish should stop reading the Marquis de Sade.

  4.  @neyouxddd2371  oh I forgot the Spanish police are a paramilitary. The point of all my comments on this subject is that Spain is guilty of hypocrisy if it objects to the few remaining UK " colonies" while wanting to keep its own.

  5.  @davidoyega  so what you are saying is that Spain does not need to give them back to Morocco because Spain stole them from someone else. As to them being colonies, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck. It's a duck. The EU is going to have problems closing its border to migrants if Spain has established a right of way into Europe.

And yes I agree it is up to the people of a region to decide who governs them, provide the region is sufficiently big and self sufficient to be self governing. In which case, the basque and Catalonia regions of Spain have a good case for independence. If your arguement is applied to the Spanish territories next to Morocco, then the same must apply to Gibraltar. In the latter case they have held a referendum which has a huge majority for remaining a UK protectorate and free of Spanish control.
