@davidoyega if you really believe that the EU can remain stable with its doors wide open to all you are deluded. Even life boats have a limit on the number of people who are allowed to use them at any one time. Without controls they sink and everyone drowns. This is not xenophobia, but pragmatism. Among the migrants that come to the EU are those from broken countries, some of these had a hand in breaking them. Some arrive with expectation of entitlement and the intention to change the host culture to match their own. Given that their culture may have been the downfall of their own country of origin, one much question the benefit of allowing it to be repeated in Europe.
How are you going to maintain your liberal values when those who migrate here do not respect them?
For example, democracy is inherently unstable, since a democratic decision can remove it, without providing anyway back, turning a democracy into a theocracy. Should we be tolerate of intolerance, when not to do so would be intolerant?
Tourists often seek peace and solitude, searching for such on mass, the irony is that when they find such places they destroy them by their very presents. I think the action of Spain is hypocritical as it appears to " want its cake and eat it" to coin a phrase.
