Today the house of commons will also debate a partition request for a referendum on the abolition of the House of Lords. This partition was motivated by the undemocratic opposition to brexit by the House of Lords.

Paul Aiello their lordships will not be able to stay on the straight and narrow. The next corruption scandal to hi them will see the end of them. They just can't keep their fingers out of the public purse.

Paul Aiello The lords is an anachronism dating back to a feudal system, where lords ruled over surfs. If the lords is abolished it should be replaced with a new elected house. The members of which would owe there allegiance not to a political party, but to the people who elected them. The purpose of the new house would be the same as now, but the patronage would be removed and there would be rigorous control of vested self-interest to avoid the possibility of corruption.

Paul Aiello the abolition of the lords has nothing to do with brexit. Brexit has just highlighted the undemocratic nature of the lords, where many members have a vested interest in the result. The lords lacks democratic legitimacy and therefore must go.

Paul Aiello abolition of the lords is necessary to make the UK fit for the 21st century by correcting a democratic deficit. All brexit has done is highlight the need for change. Much is made of the problems associated with leaving the EU, no one appears to consider the consequences of remaining in it.

Paul Aiello rubbish, the EU is more undemocratic than the lords and its control over the UK cannot be challenged by the UK parliament. What is so galling, is that the UK joined the EU by stealth and deception. The people had very little say in the matter and were lied to far more than in the brexit referendum. The lordships and unelected and are riddled with vested interest. Members have repeatedly been shown to be corrupt. They should be abolished. Replace the lords with an elected house, subject to recall, and completely independent of political parties.

Paul Aiello tell me who elects the EU commissioners? How many UK laws are directly from the EU. Is there no such thing as majority voting in the EU. All the above are not really relevant to brext, as the has simply decided to be an independent state again, free from EU control. That is the only important fact.
