@12Ottobre89 the rest of the euro zone is dependent on Italy not acting in it's own interest alone and running up a massive debt. The risk for the rest is the devaluation of the euro zone currency so the others either support Italian spending or expell it from the euro zone. No doubt Merkel will lecture the Italian government about the need for fiscal responsibility.

@YorickReturns only a very few benefit from capitalism. This is evident from the growing wealth gap between the super rich few and the rest. Capitalism only works when its excesses are constrained by government regulation. Without this control capitalism would destroy the global environment and bankrupt the majority, turning them into slave labour.

Wrong, the Italians have the rest of the euro zone at their mercy. They all share a common currency that Italian policy can trash. The only thing the rest can do is expell Italy from the euro zone, but that comes at a price.
