If this is winter conditions, what will happen if the same weather patterns are repeated during the summer months. It is the slowing of the jet stream that is leading it to develope large meanders, trapping traditional temporary regions on the wrong side, exposing them to hot equatorial air. That is why the UK has experienced the hottest February on record. Can there be any doubt that global warming is causing significant climate change.

@XYZUNKNOWN it is the day record that is important as it marks an extreme that is associated with unusual jet stream activity. The average over a calender month is not as important as a moving average of temperature.

@XYZUNKNOWN it depends what you are trying to measure. In this case it is a distortion in the jet stream which may not last a full month.
