@460mas you don't really believe he is building an empire for the benefit of all the French people? The greater glory of France is not the same as the greater glory of the French people. It is the state that he is concerned with, and the elite that run it.

@460mas not so, it is only necessary to look at the growing wealth gap between the super rich and the rest. They constitute the elite or at least some of them. The remainder are the eurocrats who's mantra is do as I say not as I do. Austerity is for the masses not the elite who grow wealthier by the day, awarding themselves privileges and pay risers completely unjustified by their minimum contributions to society. Macron represents this group and their selfish interests.

No he represents the elite against the people. Given how the French delt with this the last time, he should be worried.
