@fitzstv8506 I wonder if the lenders know there is little chance of getting their money back. In a world with such a dysfunctional economy, where interests rates have fallen to below zero, 0% is maybe the best the lenders can hope for. The eu is going to give away 750 billion Euros in grants. That money will never be recovered. That is assuming the net contributing countries agree to being robbed in this way. So far they have been reluctant to cooperate with the EU mob, the one that demands money with menaces. .

@fitzstv8506 we are use to scraping by, that is what we have been forced to do for the last forty plus years of EU membership. It is very likely that the uk should have been a net recipient from the eu budget, rather than being the third largest contributor. We paid for the privilege of having our coastal waters emptied by EU fishing boats and having our fishing fleet destroyed in the process.

@ciaranbrk the uk should certainly police what comes from the EU into the UK, but from the UK into the EU, the minimum inspection to meet the letter of the withdrawal agreement will do. The former will keep imports from the EU to a minimum, while the latter is the EU's and the RoI's problem. If they want better customs controls, let them pay the UK for the service or do it themselves, either at the NI RoI border of the border between Ireland and the rest of the EU. It can be argued that the GFA has already been broken by factions of the IRA, given the purpose of the GFA was to keep peace in NI.
