The EU assurances are not worth Theodore they are written on, they are not legally binding. If these assurances were of any value they would have been included in the legally binding withdrawal agreement.

@Twiggy163 the EU only want to trade in their own terms. The withdrawal agreement was not negotiated it was simple blackmail. The EU see it as a surrender document. If the government signs it, it will be treason. A future government will not be bound by it.

@Twiggy163 the EU is being used by the global elite. The sovereign nation was an impediment to the exploitation of global natural resources and the majority of the human population. The formation of large power blocks removes this restriction allowing accelerated use of the planet's resources, increasing the wealth divide between the super rich and the rest. Globalisation reduces the resilience of the human race, by concentrating production in a few specialist centres. The UK government has allowed the UK to fall victim to globalisation more than most. The EU has played it's part in this by turning a blind eye to the creative accounting that has inflated the UK's GDP. In truth, the UK should have been a net recipient from the EU budget from day one of joining. The conceit of its GDP position, suited the EU because it allowed the EU to milk the UK of its historic wealth, now all gone. Those in the UK who wish to remain in the EU should be aware that the status quo is not an option, the UK has no way to fund the membership fee or more importantly the £80 billion annually trade deficit with the EU. Whatever happens, imports from the EU are going to fall dramatically. The UK can only survive by returning to profit by becoming self sufficient. That can only happen outside the EU.

@Twiggy163 the letters, which are not legally binding, were intended to help Mrs May get her treasonous deal through the UK parliament. They are very unlikely to succeed. If you do not understand the argument then the problem is due to your cognitive deficit. The trade deficit figures are correct, taking into account both products and services. The position is far worse if only products are considered.

@Twiggy163 Irish you when have run out of arguments by accusing me of not understanding the meaning of a trade deficit. The EU letters were intended to hide the true nature of the backstop. Had they be of any value they would have been included in the withdrawal agreement. By using the Irish border as a black will tool, the UK has been forced to call the EU's bluff. As it stands there will be an open border in Ireland, until the EU impose one.
