@fitzstv8506 German quality??? Does that include fiddled emission figures. The Japanese are far more reliable than anything Germany produces. It is not only the German cars that will become more expensive, but also the parts. The Japanese are closing their manufacturing in Europe, and moving back to Japan. They no longer need to manufacture in the EU.

@fitzstv8506 I really hope the EU imposes tariffs, so the UK can reciprocate. This will make EU produces even more expensive in the UK, reducing demand still further. There is a trend now against globalisation, as countries realise that globalisation is destroying their local manufactures. Since the EU is a microcosm of the global market, the Germans can expect manufactures to move production to where it is cheapest,that is not in Germany. This will expose the myth that what is good for one member state is good for all. The EU must also learn that foreign investment is not a good thing, as by definition the investor expects to take out a lot more than they put in. Multinationals do not owe allegiance to any country or state, they will move there money where it attracts the least tax, that may not be in their home country. So I am not worried about the UK car industry, as the UK may yet end up holding the money, particularly if no deal is reached regarding the level playing field. The latter being an EU construct to stop aggressive competition from a newly independent UK.

@fitzstv8506 I have reach my own judgement of the EU, and there is amp!e evidence that it would like to punish the UK for having the temerity to leave. Macron and others have called for the UK to be punished for leaving.

@fitzstv8506 the EU is refusing to recognise the changed status of the UK. It is now an independent state and expects its red lines to be respected. This includes the right of the UK to control its own coastal waters and decide what support it offers to its industries. Any on line search reveals ample evidence of EU officials calling for the UK to be punished for leaving the EU. The UK is exercising it's right to leave the EU, and that is what it s doing. One only needs to look at EU activity to know that it is trying to force the UK into being a vassal state of the EU. The idea that EU air space will be closed to UK flights show this. No other independent country is subject to these proposed restrictions. They are all blackmail attempts to force the UK to agree to EU demands.
