Shouldn't that be EU hidding behind Ireland?

@patricklawler5148 you are confusing the country with Mrs May and some of her government. She may want a further delay, we want to be free of the EU parasite. The jokes is on you if the UK managed to leave without a deal.

@taintabird23 if you are right about the most deprived areas being in the UK, they were created while a member of the EU and while the UK is the second or third highest contributor to the EU budget. Now why is that? The UK needs to leave to have the freedom to rebalance its economy. If we were to stay the EU should be paying the UK from the EU budget. Given your analysis I suggest the UK should be receiving the maximum amount. I like the delay if it means taking part in EU elections, it gives the UK longer to damage the EU and more time to prepare for a no deal Brexit.

@taintabird23 try this, the EU is negotiating with the most corrupt, incompetent and duplicitous UK govenment. Any inconsistencies can be ascribed to the dichotomy between the UK political elite and the UK people. The UK has slowed the federalisation of the EU and could still veto the next EU budget. A budget that will be difficult anyway, if the UK leaves without a deal and no agreed payment to the EU.

@taintabird23 you are confusing the EU budget with the GDP of the EU, not he same. Multi speed Europe, don't be stupid. You will all be paying EU income tax in no time. Super state EU is really a French project supported by the eurocrats. The Germans are not so keen given they are begining to realise they are going to pay for it while losing much of the control they once had. You are right the EU has not done any negotiations, they have just issued demands and expected the UK to comply, well that is not going to happen. As to who needs who,it is a fact that the UK has an £80 billion total trade deficit with the EU, without counting the membership fee. Leaving without a deal is going to reduce that deficit.

@taintabird23 the EU income tax plan is EU policy, it is not made up it is a published intention. Not sure where you are getting your figures, but I think you will find the UK contribution to the EU budget is significantly greater than 1%. You repeatedly confuse the combined GDP of the 28 with their contribution to the EU budget. The UK's fate after leaving the EU very much depends on how independent the UK becomes. I am sure if Mrs May signs the withdrawal agreement the EU will be in a position to ensure that the UK is punished for having the tenacity to leave. The EU would like everyone to believe that there is no life outside the EU. In practice the UK was independent for hundreds of years before joining the EU and has every right to be so again. Before you point to throw state of the UK just before joining the EU, during the seventies. It should be noted that the UK was in an exceptional position at that time, it was a period when the cost of fighting WWIi finally fought up with the UK. The French and Germans expect to dominate the EU. The French want to lead with the Germans paying for their imperial ambitions. As to the UK rejoining the EU in a few years time, there maybe nothing to join. Internal forces are building in opposition to the EU project, these forces combined with the EU's financial instability may yet see it's destruction. One good good existential push, from say a global economic depression will see the EU breaking up.
