It must be evident to even the Tories that privatisations and public private partnerships have failed. The PPI hospital building program has shown that the contracts have been written to leave the public with all the risks and the private sector with all the profits. The UK government privatised the well respected world leading and very successful forensic science sector only to find the replacement was more expensive and unreliable, leading to the collapse of a number of prosecutions. It is difficult to find any examples of privatisations which have not followed this path. The NHS is a not for profit service and must remain so.
