@roll-outcommanders6520 so naive, necessity is the mother of invention. It is how we obtained radar, the magnetron, sonar, penicillin. LCDs, jet engines, metal detectors to name but a few.

@roll-outcommanders6520 are you stupid, I was not justifying war, simple pointing out that military development expedites research, and a failure to do military research results in failure on the battle field. It also degrades the effectiveness of deterrents. Knowledge is power.

@roll-outcommanders6520 I did not justify war, I simply pointed out that it tends to accelerate scientific and engineering advancement. A failure to invest in such research invariable leads to failure of deterrents and on the battlefield. Knowledge is power, an idea not lost on the Chinese.

@roll-outcommanders6520 nothing motivates applied scientific research than the need for survival. It is a sure fire way of liberating funds for research. There is a need for fundamental research as its impossible to predict what practical applications will be found for its discoveries.
