I doubt if God has anything to do with it, given the environmental damage he is doing, I suspect he works for the other side.

@brexil4133 the point is we don't want your resources, particularly if it means the destruction of the amazon environment and the animals it supports. You will destroy the amazon and be left with nothing, as the soil will be poor and unproductive. The local climate will be changed, rainfall will be reduced and the recovered land will become a desert. To extend the limited time you have when it is productive, you will need to apply huge amounts of fertiliser, doing even more damage. The only ones who will benefit are the rich, who will move on as soon as the land is rendered useless. At that price, We in the west don't want your resources, we do not want the wood from the amazon trees or any of the crops you p!ant in their place. No doubt you can sell it to the Chinese, they don't seem to care if they destroy the world, provided that China is the last super power. There is always the risk that nature will fight back. The change in climate you bring about may destroy you or you will free some very unpleasant pandemic from deep in the rain forest.

@brexil4133 it is not how dumb you are but how greedy. Short term gain is often exchanged for long term security. I know as the uk government as a track record of doing it. As for concerns over africa, should you neglect the fire in the living room because the kitchen is also burning. All rain forest destruction is of concern. This post is about the amazon.

@brexil4133 the satellite pictures disagree. The results of burning is a well established fact, with the tread towards desertification well understood, and documented in the historic climate record for other regions of the world.

@brexil4133 I do not speak for Angela Merkel or Boris Johnson, I can only campaign for my government to do the right thing. There are new laws being implemented in the UK that will making importing products from non sustainable sources illegal.

@brexil4133 I can only judge from reports of the rate of burning. But it is difficult to argue with the satellite pictures that show the extent of the damage.

@brexil4133 and how do you tell if the us is "against Brazil", aren't you depending on the same media. The politicians all have their own agenda, but few if any include the protection of the environment or the animals.
