You have to wonder why Putin is still alive. Those who keep him in power must know he has outlived his usefulness. This war is costing Russia money, and it's reputation for no purpose. The Russian elite must know that Russia will not be allowed to keep its ill-gotten gains. It may yet have to hand back the Crimea region. Russia has lost this war, no matter what happens to Ukraine. Western sanctions will only tighten, as the West finds green alternatives for Russian's main exports, oil and gas. While Putin is alive, Russia is stuck behind a new iron curtain, locked in isolation with no destinations for its commercial aircraft or its ships.
