  1. It is the mirror image of the exit from Vietnam. The US has put its own security in serious danger, with the Taliban providing sanctuary for ISIS. Something the US seemingly only realised after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. The news channels are now full of reports that the US has lost control and must wait and see what the Taliban will allow it to do. A double victory for the Taliban, not only have they gained control of the country, but have managed to humiliate the US, and its allies, in the process. The real failure of US policy was supporting a corrupt government, that made no effort to defend itself. The US has not been building real stability, only the illusion of it. Afghanistan will now revert to the 6th century, and will be exploited by the chinese and the Pakistani governments.
