  4.  @arisplugis5197  I believe that the French, well Macron, has an agenda. It wants to lead the EU military as a means to snatch political control of the EU from germany. The French cannot match German economic power, but as the only nuclear power in the EU, it sees its self as the natural military leader. The French have a well established military industrial complex, and would like it to supply the weapon systems to the EU military force. Naturally this would involve other EU states buying weapons from the french as matter of standardisation. The French would also like an EU military police force protecting its assets in Africa. This reduces the burden on France, while at the same time disguising French colonialism. Lastly, Macron is proxy empire building, using the EU as the basis for a new french empire, ideally paid for by germany tax payers. The danger is that French ambition exceeds its capabilities or rather those of the eu military. Believing it is a match for any of the other big powers, Russia, China or even the US, could get the EU involved in a conflict it cannot win. The Russians and Americans have an eighty year lead in military technology, spending far more than any of the EU states. It is delusional to assume that the french nuclear deterrent will be used to provide an nuclear umbrella for the whole of the EU. When push comes to shove, the french deterrent will be used to protect only France.
