@infinitecanadian but so has the US while Trump was president. The us has not been very successful with its regime change strategy, it has invariable produced a failed state, populated with terrorists. It has also cost the US billions of dollars.

@infinitecanadian given us historic involvement in Cuba, it is disingenuous not to speculate that the US is again trying to change the government there. Maybe you would like to research the number of CIA plots that have attempted regime change in Cuba in the last sixty plus years. Even in the unlikely event this is not another one of these plots, the US is implicated as a result of its sanctions against the island. What is strange is that the US can hold a grudge for so long, particularly when the government of Fulgencio Batista was so corrupt, a puppet of the US mob.

@infinitecanadian no what is shameful is that its true snd previous US actions make it likely that it is behind the riots. Maybe you would like to mske a list of all the countries where the US has tried to regime change for its own financial or political interests. It's not always to depose a cruel dictator, as in many cases, the cruel dictator was put in power in the first place by US meddling.

@infinitecanadian do you deny that the purpose of US sanctions are designed to produce the very unrest cuba is currently experiencing? Maybe you are arguing that US policy towards Cuba has been completely ineffective and irrelevant.

If you bothered to listen to the report, you will note that the report itself linked the food shortages to US Cubans, it is not a far stretch to link this to be US government policy. It is very nice of you to continue to reply to these posts, as it gives further opportunity to state the case for US government involvement.

@infinitecanadian again you have chosen to provide the opportunity for me to restate the case that the US is behind recientky unrest in cuba. As I have repeatedly explained, the us has a history of trying to change the regime in Cuba. It has applied sanctions with the void intentions of producing the food shortages that have been the root of recent riots. The dissatisfaction with the current government can be traced with the way it is forced to deal with crippling US sanctions. If the US wishes to show that the Cuban people are simp!y objecting to lack of freedom under the current administration, let it remove the sanctions and see if the peoples disenchantment with their government continues. It is ironic that the US is critical of Cuban lack of democracy, at a time when the republican party is doing its best to remove any sign of democracy in the US. The US supported regime Castro removed from power was not exactly the model of democracy or probity, being largely run for the benefit of the organised crime mob in the US. Please feel free to reply again, one can only hope your apparent attention deficit disorder is mollified by repeated posts that deny its existence.

@infinitecanadian was it any worse than the one that came before it? The question is not really if it is good or bad, but if the US is actively trying to change it by application of pressure or agents on the ground. There are many "bad" governments in the world, most the US dies nothing about, some the us actively supports, those in the middle east being a classic example, it is just that when it comes to cuba the US has a history of trying to depose the government and failing. This maybe like the story of the boy who cried wolf, this being the one time the US is not involved, but no one would believe it. Trump reimposed sanctions, just at the point where it looked as if positive changes were happening in Cuba, it may prove the adage that more can be accomplished with honey than a stick. It's worth asking after all these years, why now?

@infinitecanadian I am sorry you appear to be suffering from an attention deficit disorder. But it is obvious that the us has spent the last sixty years attempting, unsuccessful, to overthrow the Cuba regime. I see no reason to believe this is anything other than another US orchestrated attempt. Certainly the US sanctions are designed to have this effect. It is just possible that this is a boy who cried wolf situtation, where this is the one time when the us is not involved, but that seems unlikely.
