  2.  Miguel Melchior  not a matter of hate, just a forecast, based on the trends in global warming. The fires in Australia, suggests Europe may see something similar come the summer. The Australia heat wave was the result of a particular alignment of weather conditions, but the trend is obvious, suggesting the planet may have passed one of the critical tipping points. It is now very likely that the EU economy is going to be seriously damaged by global warming from now on. Winter tourism is being hit by the lack of snow for skiing and in the summer it is far to hot o visit the South of France or the Mediterranean coast. The higher temperatures will also damage agriculture. The weather in wine growing regions may no longer be suitable for vini culture and other crops may not grow in these ever more extreme weather conditions. In the UK, the problem will be drying the land following extreme flooding. I would not be surprised if Europe see the hottest summer on record this year. My real concern is for the environment and the wild life. The painful death of over one billion animals in Australia is heart breaking and an unprecedented (manmade) natural disaster.

  3.  @JJones_1  I have never understood why we do not have at least one fire fighting aircraft. The UK relies on helicopters to deliver water to moor fires. An aircraft would be far more efficient. The EU's problem is not so much lack of fire fighting equipment, but the now unstoppable effects of global warming. As the seasons turn, we see the earth burning under the summer sun. Europe's large land mass is only going to make the heatwaves worse. I expect to see the collapse of EU agriculture over the next few years, with a huge reduction in gross productivity.
