The generals want to fill their pockets again. Apply sanctions that make their activity non profitable and the generals will change their mind's.

It is our business, we can decide with whom we wish to deal.

@RIXRADvidz if news reports are correct, the generals are very corrupt and fill their pockets are the countries expense. The world needs to take action that hurts their pockets. Freezing assets and cutting their ability to profit. Certainly they should not be allowed to travel. They are receiving support from the Chinese government, The Chinese understand bribery and corruption in business and the government is fully aware of how to rule by dictatorship and repression, so it is unlikely that China will join in any sanctions.

@Alexander there have been in depth news programs covering the activity of the generals in the past. The fact they have ceased control, says a lot about them. We are not policing the world, we are just deciding not to deal with criminals and to make their crimes a least profitable as possible. For evil to profit, all it takes is a few good men (and women) to do nothing.

@Alexander no they were on television news.

@Alexander I was not watching RT news. The propaganda arm of the russian government. The generals are known for their corruption. Obviously their Swiss bank accounts for getting a bit low.

@Alexander better than watching a news channel controlled by the generals. I don't think our news channel has any bias on the subject, as they have nothing to gain. Unlike the generals who will run the country to fill their pockets, just as they did last time.

@Alexander you just wanted an example of a biased news channel, I gave you one. You are defending the indefensible, an undemocratic military seizure of control of a country. They question is why you would do so? The generals will find that there actions are not profitable.

@Alexander too right I do. As I said an elected government has been removed by a coup d'etat. That is a fact, there is no denying it. That is sufficient reason to take action, even with out having seen the news reports from reporters on the ground last time the generals were in power. The military was not elected into government, they took control illegally.

@Alexander so you believe that the people should be allowed to be ruled by thugs and thieves, simply because they have guns. Democracy means self determination. In the e d the military will find they cannot rule if the people ignore them.

@Alexander all the evidence to the contrary. The government had just won a landslide victory in an election that independent observers described as free and fair. The military on the other hand had no such mandate. They took control at the point of a gun. Of the two, I know which one I believe. The West will reach the same conclusion and impose sanctions, targeting the wealth of the generals. Civil disobedience in a country ravaged by covid will quickly make it ungovernable and unprofitable.
