  1. At this stage their only choice is between no deal or the deal that Mrs May finally manages to get from the EU, if any. Remaining in the EU is not an option as indicated by a number of EU member states.

  2. The EU has already made it clear that the UK remaining in the EU is no longer an option. The only choice seems to be between a bad deal and no deal. The only viable back stop position in the Irish border issue is a customs border between Ireland and the rest of the EU. That will be the default position if the UK leaves without a deal, as neither the UK or Ireland intend to put a hard border between northern and southern Ireland, there is no chance of a border between NI and the UK and the UK is leaving the customs union in March 2019, taking NI with it.
