And is proved justified.

@bob the reply no longer makes sense, because a comment has been removed from the thread.

The covid restriction are significantly more important than brexit. Clearly there is an opportunity for automation of the picking process.

@simoncolombo6640 the government brexit rules are irrelevant, the pickers would not be allowed in because of covid.
1
@simoncolombo6640 but with covid, they would be excluded anyway. So the current problem would not be changed by a change in the regulations. I suggest you brush up on your statistics, in particular Venn diagrams.
1
@bokhans we would but you are using them to pick fruit in Ireland, as your EU work force has been stricken with covid and are spreading it to the local population.

@simoncolombo6640 the model is only two months old and subject to change if required. Much has been made of the drop in trade from the UK to the EU, but trade in the opposite direction as dropped by a similar amount, at that is with the UK imposing the same sort of officious measures as the EU. When the UK starts to apply similar measures, imports from the EU will be significantly reduced even further. That is exactly what the UK requires inorder to rebalance its economy and support local manufactures. I hope the EU imposes tariffs that the UK will be justified in reciprocating.

@simoncolombo6640 you might like that to happen, but it won't. The UK will apply progressively tighter restrictions and modify its own internal standards to make it more difficult for EU products to meet them. Better still if the UK market is less attractive for foreign manufactures because of UK regulations.

@simoncolombo6640 it's not about undercutting, its about making imports more expensive and less attractive than locally produced products.
