  2. Thomas Fitz-Simon we should have developed our own system in the first place. Seeking partners is a false economy, particularly when the partner is as treacherous as the EU. While the risks are high so are the rewards for the UK technology industries. In the case of Galileo, we can treat it as a prototype, particularly if we can get our R&D money back from the EU. It is known that the Galileo system is flawed by its atomic clocks, so we can design out that fault. We already have the ground stations, what is missing is a launcher system for the satellites. Again we need our own.
