So he proves himself a statesman by doing what the EU wants. Wrong, he proves himself a statesman by getting the EU to do what his country needs it to do. The EU cannot be trusted, it will betray Ukraine if it is expedient to do so.

@not today if it is a choice between Russia and the Ukraine the EU will chose Russia, because it controls the EU energy tap. The EU will not pick a fight with Russia, it is a fight for which they are ill prepared and would lose. Russia's media game has disabled most of its enemies, particular the US. With Trump in control, the US is no real threat.

@not today not really, as they quickly backed down when Russia annexe the Crimea. Like the supporters of the school bully, the EU is happy to start a fight and then stand back while other take up their fight.
