Russia knows precisely why the US has pulled out of this Treaty. Putin has spent the last few years ingredient it's military and boosting to the world about its new weapons, including its supersonic missiles. What did they expect the us would do in response. Putin may be gambling that the us has become too decadent to afford to develope new weapons, but the us has a very large military complex seeking the return of the good old days when pentagon money flowed like water and the user was out engineered and out spent. Putin may yet regret waking this sleeping giant and so might the rest of the world.

@NonSecular not more lol, is there a nitrous oxide leak from Russian chemical weapons site? As I recall the Russians lost the last arms race, when the Russian premier noted that US games machines used more complex electronics than Russian missiles and the Americans were using hydroxyl terminated poly butadiene as rocket fuel, meaning they could launch in seconds.

@NonSecular they did not do so bad against the Iraqi army, weren't they using Russian tanks? Then there was the fall of the ussr, and they did not need to fire a shoot. Iraq is probable the only place in the last 50 years they have been free to use their military without constraints. You could cite Afghanistan, but the Russians were kicked out of there too. Given the unstable nature of the current US president, you would think that putin would not be keen to see how far he can be pushed.
