  1. European guilt over WWII treatment of the Jews has given successive Israel governments a get out of jail free card, allowing Israelly governments to do unspeakable acts. The Palestinian rhetoric makes it easy for the west to side with what appears to be a democratic Oasis in the Middle East. However, the Israelly government is guilty of land theft and over reacting with excessive military force, whenever it is challenged by Palestinians with a legitimate grievance. For the Israelly military killing Palestinians is like shooting fish in a barrel, as Palestine is one big concentration camp. The difference between the casualty rates show how asymmetric this conflict has become. Sling shots and knives are no match for assault rifles. The TV pictures of the last Palestinian Uprising and the Israeli response, showed how much the Israeli military over reacted, they were using white phosphorus bombs on civilian targets. It is easy for the westerners to like the Jewish people, more difficult to like the palestinians, who's culture is more alien too Western and sensibilities. This does not excuse the actions of the Israeli hard right wing government that is willing to treat unarmed Palestinian civilians as legitimate targets, even if these civilians hate Israel and Jewish settlers. They do have good historic reasons to do so.
