  1. While not wishing to critique any altruistic motives, and it is certainly true that business must condemn the Russian aggressor. There is an element of self interest in bring this war to an end. it is proving very bad for world trade, and therefore is very bad for business. The value of globalisation is now in question.

  2. This war will have a profound effect on global trade. The West is now reassessing the wisdom of long supply chains and becoming dependent on potential enemies. Most will be seeking to become far more self sufficient. These may see an end to globalisation, not least because transport costs have increased dramatically, but the drive for self sufficiency will be the biggest factor. The Chinese economy, that has done so well from globalisation, will be hit hard. The West will not be so keen to offshore their manufacturing, to places like China.
