@alienonblueplanet you have been watching to much star wars. The best that such a weapon can do now is blind an opponent, hardly a match for an AK47. Until the flying soldier's hands and arm become free, he is not an effective weapon. There have been better flying platforms, which were steered using hand controls. These could have supported automated machine guns or rockets. This appears to be a case of style over practicality. There are just better ways of achieving the objective. It is more practical if unopposed, as for example when sending a medic between ships. Even then it would be interesting to know the maximum payload that can be carried, I suspect that the payload is very limited, given the weight must be supported by the jets and therefore the soldier's arms.
