  1. It is not in the interest of the French to allow the UK to reverse article 50. Ideally this result will come too late for the UK parliament vote on the Brexit deal. If the deal is rejected, which is most likely, it will make a second referendum irrelevant, as there will not be an option to reverse article 50. Making a hard Brexit more likely. The fact that the court's ruling is being second guessed, suggests that this is being used to support Mrs May's case.

  2. This is a provisional ruling by the advocate general. It may yet be reversed because the EU will want to ensure that states do not trigger article 50 and then stop the process at the last minute for political gain, in a form of blackmail. Imagine the chaos if Italy decided to trigger article 50, knowing that it could simply cancel just it just before leaving.
