  1. Having destroyed large parts of the planet extracting oil and gas, mankind will now destroy the rest searching and extracting minerals. There is hope that more common minerals can be used in place of the rare earth. Iron nitride looks promising as an alternative to rare earth permanent magnets. Both sodium, aluminium and carbon maybe alternatives for lithium and cobalt for batteries.
