So much for EU food standards. It appears the EU is rife with criminal activity and fraud. We are all aware of the subsidises paid for not existent olive groves and similar crops. But this is really a new low, affecting both public health and animal welfare.

@bca-biciclindcuaxel7527 oh come on, the French are known for eating horse meat, so the French probably would not notice rotten polish meat. Poland is just exploiting the inherent corruption of the EU. There does not seem to be any area where EU supposed integrity is matched by reality. The "wonderfully" engineered German and French cars ( well maybe not wonderful in the case of the French) have been shown to fiddle the specs to make the cars meet the emission standards.

@RovexHD am surprised that the UK government has not taken advantage of this scandal by immediately banning the import of EU meat. That will save imposing tariffs on EU meat imports when the UK leaves without a deal. Such a ban can be justified on the basis of protecting public health. We could do the same to EU cars, based on the failures to meet emission standards. There is clearly a disconnect between EU rules and directives and their practical implementation in the member states. Money and corruption means that EU standards are questionable. It's a bit like the CE mark, which on many products real stands from Chinese Export rather than an EU quality safety mark.
