  6.  @Sker2  the point is Scotland had a referendum, and I is likely to get another. What is not acceptable is for it to have another referendum so soon after the last, or while the whole of the UK is involved in major changes, following Brexit. If the Scots want a second referendum, let them wait until the turmoil of Brexit has subsided and a new stability is found. I hope the Northern Irish vote for reunification, as it will provide a windfall for the rest of the UK and remove the last chain the EU has binding it to the UK. Not only that, but it will be a political and economic burden on the EU for decades, which would serve the EU right, for playing politics with the Irish border. Unfortunately, unlike the Scots, the northern Irish, know where their better off, and their current situation gives them the best of both worlds, EU membership with out responsibility and support from the rest of the UK. Spain simply will not allow a referendum.

  8.  @SpanishWithSergio  you say that, but you are not willing to test it with a referendum. The only problem with such votes, is that they tend to be one way affairs. The EU has discovered this and use it to great effect. Ask the same question a sufficient number of times until you get the result you want and then implement that as a once and for all solution.

  10.  @krls1966  no i am not confused, but I am separating nationalism and Nationalism. The former is when a state tries to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible, minimising imports from other countries. The latter is a form of militarism born from a feeling of cultural superiority. The latter resulted in two world wars, but globalism has been driving lots of small wars around the world for decades. These are wars fought over territory and resources.

  11.  @krls1966  I disagree with your definition. The weakness the globalisation has exposed is that a super rich elite no longer have or need any loyality to their state of origin. The profits of their activities do not return to the state in which they were earned and are not taxed by that state. This simple loophole has massive significance, as it means that manufacturing can now be located in poor regions with weak labour and environmental protection laws, with the products produced exported to rich region markets to be sold for a huge profit. It is this weakness that has allowed so many western countries to be de-skilled and for so much damage to be done to the global environment. Wars are fought not only over resources, but also to preserve the wealth differentials that make this global trade so profitable for the facilitators.
