  1. It is worth asking why government failed. Globalisation has made them very reluctant to close borders to stop the spread of virus. The love of internationalism has made states less self sufficient and independent. Supply chains should never have been allowed to spread across the world the way they have, but globalisation is how many of the super rich earn their money, has the reluctance to bring it to a halt. Globalisation has made human civilization less resilient by concentrating the production of critical products in smaller regions of the world. Countries have lost the ability to stand alone.
