  3. parker carbad there is much talk about paying EU pensions after the UK leaves the EU. But this should only apply to those employed on UK business. In any case EU employees should be partly paying towards their pensions. In the UK these payments fund current pensions, but as far as I can tell the EU intends to keep these payments. The EU has also refused to discuss the value of assets that the UK has already paid for during its membership, claiming these belong to the EU. The EU also expects the the UK to fund projects that will aid states in competition with the UK post brexit. At the start of the brexit process, the UK government received legal advice that the it was not obligated to pay the EU anything. It is reasonable to ask, if a recipient state decided to leave the EU, would the EU continue to pay benefits to that state for the budget period? I very much doubt it, so why should the UK continue to pay the EU for this period.
