Comments by "Nigel Johnson" (@nigeljohnson9820) on "Oxfam's call to governments ahead of Davos: Tax the rich" video.
How do you tax those who are so rich that they no longer have any national allegiances. National taxation would only be applied to the wealthy end of the middle classes. These people are not the super rich, just the taxable. The lower classes are too poor to be taxed, and the super rich are untaxable,, having assets that are both Internationaly mobile and sufficiently large to be protected by the best legal and financial advice that money can buy. The best Oxfam can hope for, is that the ultra rich will make voluntary donations, in an effort of self survival, to overt societal breakdown and anarchist revolution.

dan scr I partly agree, however the excesses of capitalism requires government constraint or it morphs into destructive uncontrolled greed. Something the US is at the threshold of experiencing. Remember the greed is good speech, the film directors expected this to be treated as ironic, but some took this mantra as a literal recommendation. Without constraints, capitalism becomes the Anarchy of survival of the fittest, and by fittest I mean the greediest. Foreign companies will always figure highly in this scenario, as the only motive is to make the greatest profit.

Of all the systems that a state might use to organise its economy, capitalism is probable the most efficient, as it is self organising, requiring no top down control. It is why the former USSR failed, and why China has adopted it. Unfortunately, if capitalism is not constrained to work for the public good, it grows out of control, like a cancer, driven by only the "profit at all cost" motive. Like a cancer, this is very destructive because it consumes ever greater resources with no real benefit to the body of society.

I do not subscribe to the theory of a new world order. I suspect that their is coporation between conflicting groups. I don't think Putin is a puppet, I suspect he is one of the ultra rich elite. An over promoted gangster and thug. His war is most likely being used by others to make substantial amounts of money. We know the opec countries are receiving a windfall as will those who control the food supply and those who make munitions. The war is a profit opportunity for the globalist.
