Well said. In the story with the Aztecs (William Hartnell) The school teacher character is mistaken for a goddess. She decides that she will try to use this to change their culture for the better, maybe it was get rid of human sacrifices. The Doctor lets her know that it is not possible. I don't think that you would find that kind of wisdom in the stories that get pushed today.

How about "Point Blank"? I too was going to give this one a pass, but after this review it is on my list to see some time in the future.

Yes, the ending was excellent.

You have chosen well.

Can't believe I didn't see this review for two years. As always, your take on the film is spot on. This is one of my Christmas favorites, and it really is a good film.

Drinker's reviews have been well worth watching! Makes me almost glad for lousy movies.

Produced by Daily Wire, so it will get as much interference from the main stream as they can manage. Good to hear an honest opinion from our friend the Critical Drinker.

Really nailed it. There can't be a moral to the story when there are no morals in the universe it takes place in. Star Wars was not supposed to be a post-modern Marxist world-view, but here we are.

Same here. My wife saw it before I had even heard of it.

Looks like more "based on the video game" stuff. All the animates stunts are done by the same people who created Assassin's Creed or World of Warcraft.

Reflecting our modern society. There is no hope and no possibility of redemption. Discovering a tweet from years past is punishable by death.

Having read the book long before seeing the film, it always seemed silly that "Juan Rico" didn't even look slightly like his name suggests in ethnicity. Everyone thinks there is a whole bunch of war mongering, but this is a story where Earth was attacked by an alien race, and in the early days they were losing the war.

His real enemy is the elites. The oligarchs and the politicians. But he is going around attacking ordinary people who have done him no harm. If that convenience store owner had jacked all his prices beyond the market, he would just end up going out of business in the real world. The people fixing the roads weren't the ones who spent the public money on it, and I would bet that any graft didn't end up in their pockets.
