Not necessarily bums. Some EV owners have to cut cable to free themselves when charger malfunctions and won't release the latch especially when it's freezing cold

Because most of us charge at home. You drive a gas car when you have to travel long at distance.

@kingarthur5110 Not if you have a PHEV. You save 90% of fuel for regular commute and in town trips, and don't have to deal with downside of EVs when travelling long distance.

@kingarthur5110 PHEVs beats ICE vehicles for reducing 95% of emissions and fuel cost. I only visits gas stations twice a year. Saving both money and environment. And having only 1/5 of size of battery of similarly sized BEV. Truly best of the both worlds. No ICE vehicles are not as good as PHEVs, nor is BEVs.

EVs are only good for commuting from home to work. Travelling with EV, you will need to make sure you have destination charger, otherwise you will waste a lot of time dealing with public chargers.

@martina5328 the issue with battery swap is the cost. Not even counting high cost of swapping stations, For each vehicle you'll need on average 2 battery packs rather than just one. This makes Nio cars uncompetitive. No wonder they can't turn a profit. Phev is far more cost efficient if refuelling time is important to you.

My concern exactly. So phev would solve this issue.. Saves fuel cost and environment and handles long distance emergency no problem.
