You are ignorant on how EV works. A delivery van has fixed routes and stops at warehouse. They can charge while they are loading parcels, no need for extra long range, its all short range trips. Saves battery weight, highly efficient ussage.

@paddyodoors2757 your job isn't his job. You said rural run. Maybe his route is all urban stop and go traffic, perfectly suited for EVs. Not like your ice car would waste fuel idling 90% of time.

@Skot-ish there is natural gas and nuclear.. natural gas is far cleaner than coal. Even coal plants have much better filters then car tailpipe emissions that causes cancer. You can put in much better filter in power plants where weight and size is not limited. If you ever visited big cities in China you'd appreciate the quiet and clean air next to the main traffic.

@simflyer1429 these door to door delivery vehicles spend majority of time stop and go then stop again. And not necessary going long distances. Ideal for short range EVs. I shake my head whenever I see an ice delivery van idling at every stop. It's wasting 90% of fuel while creating dirty exhaust in otherwise clean aired neighborhood.

@simflyer1429 you seen a fracking oil field

Not at all. Plenty of alternatives for coal

@adolfgerhardhermann5952 Not really, natural gas and nuclear is preferred, but even Coal fire power plant is more efficient and cleaner than ICE cars and emit less pollution due to better filtration and carbon capture at power plant. At least you are not emitting cancer causiing chemicals right next to where people are breathng , exercising and sleeping.

@nickmullen1666 wake up. solar and wind are already majority power in Europe and will be in the US very soon
2
@adolfgerhardhermann5952 yes but the rate of ice is decreasing and EV increasing. The trend is very clear.
2
@gaiustacitus4242 Yes, I agree that there is no one size fits all. In any advanced economies, 80-90% of population are urbanized, even in America. I agree that government should never impose all EV rules on everyone, but people living in cities with fixed commuting schedule daily, should not have any reason not to drive EVs instead of big gas guzzling trucks.

@drachman3149 Obviously, the route should be calculated so complete deliverying all his load before returning to the warehouse to load more parcels, and charging.

So you guys prefer diesel trucks spewing cancer causing smokes in your face.
1
Yes, they can. You are living in delusional yesteryear world
1
@OnlyKaerius Have you not heard of Sodium battery? There are plenty of sodium out there.
1
@Shakerhood69 that's right.. coal plants emissions is far cleaner than car tailpipe emissions because of better filtration systems that are too heavy and bulky to put in cars.
1
@gaiustacitus4242 More energy is produced by renewable sources like solar and wind. Some fossil fuel plants and nuclear plants are needed for when solar and wind is not available, but greatly reduced. Also, even coal fire power plants makes far less pollution than ICE cars as they have much better filters than ICE cars without weight and size limitations. It's not just CO2, but lots of cancer causing fumes right in the vacinity of population centre is disastraous. Power plants are usually located at distance, and harmful chemicals can be better filtered.

@jandrews6254 I do have my own solar panels. But of course you prefer to pay oil companies with your easy money and spewing polluting as you roll down the street in your halftone

You are the one hiding from the reality

@jefferyindorf699 Electric transition is happening right before your eyes. You just like to live in the past because it's comfortable to remain what you already know, and refuse to consider potential improvements. Like like an old man keeps saying good old days used to be blah blah..
