  1. I think PHEVs are the most logical choice. If you have access to home charging (ie owning a house or garage), you can save tons of fuel cost in every day short distance commutes. And you still have an ICE as backup for emergencies and occassional long distance trips. Reliability of two drivetrains is still questionable, but not much more than non-plugin hybrid. Toyota's PHEVs seem to be reliable enough but they are expensive.
