@69memnon69 Disagree, EV is better if you have to drive long distance OFTEN, it cuts down your fuel cost much more than PHEV. PHEV is better if you only have to drive long distance less than 2 - 3 times a year like myself. so that 95% of my miles are in EV mode, I rarely need gas at all. If you only drive short distances (less than 50 miles say) mostly, why carry around a 250 mile capable battery? It's like you are only using 1/5 - 1/4 of usable battery, and the rest is dead weight, and will still degrade with time. In case of PHEV, the gasoline engine only wear out with usage, so if it's used minimally like myself, it will have indefinite life even after the car expires, the engine will probably can be taken out for resale value. The weight of engine is actually less than unsed portion of EV battery, so argument that PHEV carries the dead weight of engine does not hold up, BEV's unsed battery weight is much more significant if you are only driving short distances mostly.
