Why not just keep 10-20% of your bag in case it sky rockets to 500k?

Slightly less saving by these people who receive extra income is not surprising. Since you are guaranteed UBI, why save more money if your goal is just to maintain your existing lifestyle. It's a question of goal and ambitions, not that extra UBI money enabling them to move up.

@ryanviningtube that's just superstition. There is no shortage of natural disasters in the US as well

I don't think the flooding was contributing to the massive population decline. The casualty figure was in thousand not hundreds of thousands

Another Boeing went down today.. So proud of American engineering quality

How funny, everyone just immediately blame China for anything bad happening in the US.

I don't think it has anything to do with religion or culture. It's just the wheel of fortune. Europe was poor when Muslims, Indians and Chinese were rich for centuries, then these old civilizations became hubris and complacent, and lazy. European based (including American) civilizations have been wealthy and powerful since 18 century. Maybe the wheel of fortune is starting to turn with China leading the way... with the Western civilizations getting increasingly complacent with self entitled labor unions and overblown government debts.

@deletenow3276 search and rescue in China is quite competent, so are the emergency hospitals. I'd say more efficient than the US.

You forgot theJapanese. Contradict your thesis

Japanese culture is heavily influenced by Chinese just like British or French are influenced by Rome. I don't see any connection between Rome and China though. They are independently developed i think. But i do see your point able Rome and Greece were more sophisticated than Asian civilizations of the same period.

Your fallacy is to only look at the numbers, not the cause. If you had any brain at all, you'd know that the UBI is not the cause for these people for having less money than the control group, it's the lack of financial education, and consumerism and instant gratification culture. If the same study was conducted in East Asian countries, you'd get a different conclusion. We need to instill a culture of saving and financial planning and not living from paycheck to paycheck, and mandate financial education from elementary school on as core corriculum.

Though we can't trust data from China. But also keep in mind a lot of these studies and speculation are funded by anti China propaganda as well - ie the US government and Taiwan.

@orboakin8074 you have just described the history. But going forward you are seeing some glimpses of Western cultures rejecting modern technology while developing economies embracing them. EVs and crypto for instance.
